Walter Golden, 84, of Ooltewah, died on Tuesday, October 8, 2013.
 
He was born and raised in Old Hickory, Tn., where he graduated from DuPont High School and attended MTSU.  Mr. Golden proudly served in the U.S. Army as a staff sergeant at the U.S. Embassy in London from 1952-1954 during the Korean War. He worked at AT&T and retired after 31 years of service.  He moved to Ooltewah 14 years ago.
 
He was a member of the Ooltewah United Methodist Church and the Old Hickory Bunch.
 
Walter enjoyed fishing, camping, boating, reading, traveling and especially going to the beach.  He thoroughly enjoyed sitting on the beach watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren play.  He was a gentle, kind hearted and loving man.  If you knew him, you loved him.
 
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 49 years and eight months, Donna Rives Golden. They shared each other’s joys and wept each other’s tears. He is also survived by four daughters, Cathy Hill, Franklin, Tn., Connie Clemmons, Old Hickory, Tn., Lisa Clements (Jay), Ooltewah, and Leah Malloy (Ken), Hopkinsville, Ky.; 10 wonderful grandchildren, Tonya Harper (Brian), Todd Carpenter (Annalise), Amy Lewis (Todd), Alison Prewitt (Russell), Jonathan Clemmons, Michael and Casey Malloy, Drew, Reid and Caroline Clements; 10 precious great-grandchildren, Alec, Ella and Maddie Carpenter, Colin, Cathleen and Camille Harper, Hallie and Amelia Lewis, Lottie and Rhett Prewitt and a wonderful great-great-grandson, Henry Carpenter.
 
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association at americanheart.org or to the building fund at Ooltewah United Methodist Church.
 
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12, in the Valley View Chapel with Pastors Dwight Kilbourne and Will Conner officiating.  Entombment will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
 
His grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers.  Honorary pallbearers will be Ken Malloy, Jay Clements, Bill Smith, James Franklin, Don Wescott, Ben Denton, Bob Schoenbachler, Raymond Turner, Charles Carver, Georg Offschanka, David Rives, Jimmy Holmes, Stan Bailey, Todd Lewis, Brian Harper, Retired Co-Workers from AT&T and the Old Hickory Bunch. 
 

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 11, and 10 a.m. til the time of service on Saturday at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home Crematory & Florist, 7414 Old Lee Highway.
