Tommy Carpenter, 93, of Hixson, died on Sunday, December 22, 2013. 

He was the oldest member of Friendship Baptist Church Hixson.  He loved fishing and gardening, his family and talking about the Lord.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Carter Carpenter and later, Ruth Swafford Carpenter; father, Ralph Carpenter; mother, Lela Holloman; brothers, Ralph “Buddy” Carpenter and C.L. Renner; and sisters, Helen Moore and Christine Simmons.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Loretta Carpenter; grandchildren, Casey and TJ Carpenter; daughter, Nancy Carpenter; brothers, Bobby and Gary Carpenter; sisters: Mildred Day, Carolyn  Betts, Marciel Wilson, Betty Camp and Francis  Patterson; and many nieces and nephews.    

The family would like to thank Hospice of Chattanooga and Soddy Daisy Health Care Center. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Chattanooga.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 27, at Lane Funeral Home, Ashland Terrace. Interment will follow in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.  

Visitation is from 5-9 p.m. on Thursday at Lane Funeral Home, Ashland Terrace 877-3524.
