Austin Maynard, 73, of Summerville, Georgia died on Monday, August 26, 2013, at Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Maynard was born June 20, 1940 in Cherokee County, AL, the son of the late Gibson “Gib” Maynard and Jewel Minnie Deering Maynard. He was a truck driver for Golden Star Carpet Mill. Mr. Maynard was a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the United States National Guard.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Glenn Maynard; and a sister, Leta Pickle.
Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-laws, Tammy R. and David Cordle, Austina L. Nichols, and Charlotte and Steve Drummond; sisters, Nadine Espy, Brenda Hughes, Debbie Cooper, Alice Ballinger, Sandra Corbin, and Melinda Floyd; brother, Thomas Eugene Maynard; grandchildren, Matthew Cordle, Bethany Cordle, Cherish Beard, Jonathon Beard, Kyle Nichols, and Nikki Dillard.
Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 28, at Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Billy Dempsey officiating.
Mr. Maynard will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m. on Wednesday.
