Dan "Deputy Dan" Young, 79, of Trion, GA, passed away Thursday, January 16, 2014 at his residence.
Born in Valley Head, AL on November 27, 1934, he was a son of the late Floyd and Leona Clark Young. Mr. Young was a retired deputy from the Chattooga County Sherriff’s office.
He was preceded in death by siblings, the late Billy Young, the late Lorene Moore, the late Margaret Faye Young and the late Charlotte Young.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara E. Young; daughter, Angie Williamson of Trion; son, Allen Young of Douglasville; step-children, Cindy Romines of Fort Oglethorpe, Sheryl Campbell of Summerville, Jan Allen and Robbie Allen both of Lyerly; sisters, Nancy Wilson and Frances Cordle both of Summerville and Linda Pledger of Orlando, FL; brothers, Rev. Richie (Bo) Young of Jamaica and Budd Young of Summerville; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 19 at 2 p.m. from the West Summerville Baptist Church with Rev. Allen Young, Rev. Lavon Humphries, Rev. Kevin Woods and Rev. Bo Young officiating. Interment will follow in Summerville Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Matt Williamson, Jarod Williamson, Micah Young, Jonathan Hudgins, Ricky Campbell and Robbie Allen. Honorary Pallbearers will be all Law Enforcement personnel.
Visitation will be Saturday, January 18 from 6-8 p.m. at the Earle Rainwater Funeral Home who has charge of the arrangements.
