Weekly Road Construction Report

Here is the weekly road construction report for Hamilton County:

U.S. 27 (SR-29) reconstruction project from Manufacturers Road (Olgiati Bridge over the Tennessee River) to U.S. 127 (SR-8, Signal Mountain Road/Boulevard):  Weather permitting, the contractor may have lane closures throughout the project area on weeknights to perform road work.  They will also be working on retaining walls and bridges throughout the project area.  During nighttime work, at least one lane will remain open in each direction.  THP will assist with traffic control on the project as necessary.  Estimated project completion date is February.

Construction of a State Industrial Access route serving Volkswagen Group of America, including grading, drainage and paving:  Work on this project continues.  The contractor is in the process of working on road and drainage, along with environmental measures.  Traffic will not be impacted at this time so no lane closures are needed.  Estimated project completion date is October.

SR-148 resurfacing from  the Georgia State Line (LM 0.00) to U.S. 11 (U.S. 64, U.S. 72, SR-2) (LM 3.99); SR-318 resurfacing from U.S. 11 (U.S. 41, U.S. 64, U.S. 72, SR-2) (LM 0.00) to SR 148 (LM 1.05):  Work on this project continues.  The contractor will be working on the installation of guardrail, milling and paving operations.  The scheduled work hours are from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Flaggers will assist with traffic control as needed.  Estimated completion date is November.

I-24 resurfacing project from the end of Tennessee River Bridge at Nickajack Lake in Marion County near mile marker 161 extending through Hamilton County to the Georgia State Line near mile marker 167, including bridge deck repair:  Work continues on this project.  During this report period, the contractor will be performing nighttime paving operations on both sides of the interstate throughout the project area.  Paving operations requiring interstate lane closures are limited to Sunday through Thursday nights between 9 p.m.-6 a.m. THP will assist with traffic control as necessary during interstate lane closures.  Estimated project completion date is October.
