Ralph S. McMahon, 82, of Cleveland, TN, passed away Thursday evening, October 16, 2014 at the family residence.
Mr. McMahon was the son of the late Onie Deverall McMahon and Walker McMahon; and was also preceded in death by his grandson, Robbie Crist; his sister, Polly Hardin; and his brother, D. W. McMahon.
Mr. McMahon was retired from General Motors after 30 years of service. He also worked for Fisher Body in Willow Springs, IL. He was an avid Gardner and he loved to grow his vegetables and flowers. He had a green thumb and everything he planted flourished. You would see him in his straw hat with a hoe or shovel in his hand working in his garden or his yard. Mr. McMahon was a quiet man but would share the vegetables from his garden with his neighbors, family and friends. Mr. McMahon was a faithful member of the Samples Memorial Baptist Church and he loved his Lord!
Survivors include his loving wife of 49 ½ years, Daisy McMahon who took care of him since the day they were married; his daughters, Cheryl Newman, Tina Scholey and Sonya Dermody and her husband Brent; his step-son, John David Grant and his wife Jennifer; his grandchildren, Darryl Crist Jr., Beth Strigle, Keith Redman, Teddy McMahon, Stephen Hunt, Sarah Hunt and Shanna Hunt; his 11 great-grandchildren; his loving sister, Doris Ownby and her husband Gordon; his brothers, Harold McMahon and his wife Martha and Carl McMahon and his wife Nita; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and his church friends and their families.
The Remembrance of Life Service will be conducted Sunday, October 19, at 2 p.m. from the Wildwood Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Homes with Reverend Lee Ingram and Reverend Mark Cameron officiating. Interment will follow in the Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as casket bearers.
