‘Georgia Songbird’ Returns To Dalton State

  • Monday, October 27, 2014

On Friday, Nov. 7 at 7:30 p.m., contemporary blues artist and Georgia native E.G. Kight returns to the Dalton State campus, bringing her uniquely soulful voice that won her the nickname “Georgia Songbird.”

This free concert is open to the public, and will take place in the Goodroe Auditorium of Gignilliat Memorial Hall.

A versatile entertainer, Ms. Kight has performed around the world, including having been involved in fundraising concerts in Germany, Japan, and Mexico.  Her songs have appeared on the Children’s Miracle Network, Nick at Nite, and the ABC Family Channel. She has also appeared on NPR’s “A Prairie Home Companion.”

Born and raised in rural Georgia and still living on the land that has been in her family for four generations, her roots are clear through her unique style of music, a blend of multiple styles.

“Her musical style transcends musical boundaries and has been called ‘country-flavored southern-fried blues,’ blending Americana, southern rock, blues, pop, jazz, gospel and funk,” said Ellie Jenkins, assistant professor of Music at Dalton State.
