Bradley County Citizens Warned Of Green Dot Card Scam

  • Tuesday, October 28, 2014

Bradley County citizens should be warned of a fraud that has moved into the area.

Bradley County officers have received several complaints concerning a phone scam. Complainants report they received a phone call from a man identifying himself as Lt. Blackmon with the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Division. The caller advises there is a warrant on file for the citizen; however, they could pay a fee to solve the issue. The “Lt. Blackmon” directs the citizen to go to a Walmart and purchase a green dot card for a certain amount of money, then call him back at a number he provides.

Sheriff Eric Watson wants the public to know this is a scam.

Do not send money to anyone who calls and identifies himself or herself as representing the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office. Officers do serve warrants, however they do not request money nor would they ever direct anyone to buy a green dot card.

Sheriff Watson said if such a call is received, one should contact the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office.
