Here is the fishing report from the TWRA:
SEPTEMBER 29, 2014 FISHING REPORT
Chickamauga: The current elevation is 681.3 feet. Last week the elevation was 681.6 feet. This is lower summer elevation. The trend is now for the lake to head to lower levels. Water temperature is in the upper 70's.
Bass: Fair.
Most anglers are not catching fish. A weekend tournament with over 100 boats came out of Dayton Boat Dock and the Friday, Saturday total averaged just over 15 pounds per day. Flipping into the grass mats or casting rats and frogs across the same are the techniques that are being used. Big water flats are the best area.
Crappie: Slow. Blowdowns on steep banks and docks are being targeted with minnows or jigs.
Bluegill: Good. Most drifters in the upper reservoir main channel are catching a lot of bluegill. Several shellcrackers are in the mix. Crickets and worms are the bait.
Catfish: Good. Meaty baits are being used. Drifting the main channel should be the target area.
Striped Bass: Slow for most anglers. Those that are catching a few are using shad for bait.
Dale Hollow: Fishing is fair. Water temperature is 76 degrees; lake is slowly falling.
Bass: Several largemouth are being caught in the rivers on crankbaits and spinnerbaits around laydown trees, in 5 feet of water. Smallmouth: A few smallmouth are being caught on topwater baits and dropshots while fish are chasing shad.
Crappie: A few crappie are being caught in the rivers on minnows and laydown brush in 15 feet of water.
Great Falls: Fishing is slow. Water temperature is 77 degrees; lake is at summer pool.
Bass: A few bass are being caught on topwater baits, around bridge pillars, while fish are chasing shad.
Crappie: A few crappie are being caught on jigs and fallen trees in 15 feet of water.
Watts Bar: The lake elevation is 740.9 feet. This is mid summer level. The water surface temperature is in the upper 70’s.
Bass: Slow. Jigs and plastic worms are being used for bait. Rocky points are good with some current. Early morning anglers are catching some top water fish.
Crappie: Fair. Mostly at night near lights. Minnows are the best bait.
Catfish: Good. River channel drifters using meaty baits from various sources are catching a lot of fish in different areas.
Striped Bass: Slow.
Bluegill: Good. Worms and crickets used near docks and river bluff walls are the baits and locations.
