TWRA Hosts 2 Boating Classes

Boating season is coming up and two classes are scheduled for those who need a boating license. Anyone born after Jan. 1, 1989 must pass a Boater Education Class in order to operate a boat with more than 8.5 horsepower.

The classes will be offered:

Saturday, May 18, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
Council Baptist Church
1415 Upper River Rd NE
Charleston, TN 37310

Thursday, May 23, 6-9 p.m.
Decatur Seventh-Day Adventist Church
165 Ridge View St
Decatur, TN 37322

Once the class is taken, a certificate will be issued which must be kept by the boater whenever on the water. Details about boating requirements and regulations are available on the TWRA website, www.tnwildlife.org.

It is required to purchase and bring the Type 600 Boating Safety Exam Permit to testing locations and to classes. The class is free and open to everyone.
