Man, 35, Dies At Dale Hollow Reservoir

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) Officers responded to a call on Dale Hollow Reservoir around 12:50 a.m. CDT. A man overboard, around Sewell Bend, near First Island was reported.

Christopher Berry, 35, was reportedly camping with friends who took their Allison bass boat out fishing during the night. Mr. Berry was reported to have stumbled and fell into the water and although attempts were made to assist him, but he could not be reached.

TWRA officers utilized the Remote Operated Vehicle to locate Mr. Berry in 72 feet of water, and his body was recovered around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Clay County Sheriff’s Office and Clay County EMS also assisted in location and recovery efforts. Mr. Berry’s body was taken to the Nashville Medical Examiner’s Office. This is the 12th boating related fatality in Tennessee in 2025.
