AVA’s Annual Juried Members Exhibition Opens Dec. 5

The Association for Visual Art’s Annual Juried Members Exhibition opens Dec. 5 and will run through Jan. 2 at AVA Gallery, 30 Frazier Ave.  There will be an opening reception Dec. 5 from 5:30-8 p.m.  Gallery hours are Thursday-Saturday from 11 a.m.-5 p.m.  Admission is free. 

This show for AVA members only will feature, by juror selection, some of the best professional and emerging artists in Chattanooga, said officials.

The show was juried by Greg Pond.  Mr. Pond received his B.A. from the University of the South and his MFA from the University of Georgia. He is currently a professor at the University of the South and a founding member of Fugitive Projects in Nashville.  Mr. Pond also works as an independent writer, curator, and lecturer.   

The winner of the Best in Show award will receive a solo show at AVA in November 2015. The winner will be announced by Mr. Pond at the opening reception. 

Artists in the exhibit include Amanda Brazier, Marc Boyson, Freddie Brewer, Laura Cleary, Shane Darwent, Khambrel Green, Jean Hess, Patrick Ironwood, Julie Jack, Wanda Knowles, Devon Kronenberg, Paul LaJeunnesse, Michael Largent, Nathan McKenney, Heath Montgomery, and Catherine Stetson.
