Cecil Gates
Cecil Willard Gates, 89, of Soddy Daisy, died on on Sunday, November 23, 2014 at his residence.
Mr. Gates was a faithful member of Daisy Church of God, Volunteer Masonic Lodge #549, Daisy Masonic Lodge 706, Hixson Order of the Eastern Star 310, and the Scottish Rite. He had been a 50-year member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 917.
Mr. Gates was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Charlene Neal Gates and his daughter, Marsha Burke.
He is survived by his son, Danny (Cindy) Gates, of Atoka, Tn.; three daughters, Patty (Art) Keith of Ooltewah, Shirley Hunt of Sale Creek, and Gladys (Butch) Rees of Decatur, Al.; brother, Jimmy (Becky) Gates of Memphis, and his special Christian friend, Helen Gates.
A visitation will be will be held from 5–8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 25, at the funeral home chapel. A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 26, at North Chapel with Pastor Sam Phillips officiating. Interment will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alhambra Shriners, 1000 Alhambra Dr., Chattanooga, n. 37421
