Blood Assurance October Promotional Winner Announced

  • Wednesday, November 5, 2014

The winner of the Blood Assurance promotional giveaway for October is life-long donor Lester Wallace from Signal Mountain. Mr. Wallace won a 40” flat screen television. He donates via apheresis with Blood Assurance at the Downtown Chattanooga donor center on Fourth St.

Apheresis is the process of removing a specific component from blood, like platelets, and returning the remaining components to the donor, in order to collect more of one particular part of the blood than could be separated from a unit of whole blood. Platelets are used to treat patients undergoing chemotherapy or for patients who have weakened immune systems. Because platelets only last for five days, platelet donors are greatly needed.

All donors in November will receive their choice of remaining t shirt designs from previous months. Visitors can register for a chance to win a trip which includes: a one night stay for two at the Opryland, two tickets to the Radio City Christmas Spectacular starring the Rockettes, two tickets to ICE! featuring ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas, free admission to Treasures for the Holidays and two tickets to the Delta Riverboat.

For more information about donating blood, please call Blood Assurance at 1-800-962-0628 or go to www.BloodAssurance.org.
