Self-Employed Painter Was Army Veteran And Avid Bowler

Donald B. Rossell, 82, of Fort Oglethorpe, died on Saturday, December 27, 2014. 

He was a native of Nashville, and had lived most of his life in the Chattanooga and Fort Oglethorpe areas.  He was a self-employed painter having worked in the Lookout Mountain area for many years.  Mr. Rossell was a United States Army veteran having served during the Korean War.  He was an avid bowler who was a member of many leagues at Fort Lanes in Ft. Oglethorpe.  In 1988 Mr. Rossell was admitted into the Greater Chattanooga Bowling Association Hall of Fame.  His passions in life were his family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, bowling, playing bingo, and vacationing at the beach and at the casinos.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Osha Rossell; brothers, Charles, Johnny, and Larry Rossell; and sister, Maggie Evette.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Julia Rossell; three daughters, Sheila (Kipp) Brown of Rock Spring, Sharon (Gary) Nicholson of Rossville, and Donna Kay Conley of Hixson; three grandchildren, Nicole (Kenny) Jackson, Dustin (Bailey) Brown, and Ryan Nicholson; five great-grandchildren, Connor and Kort Brown, Cooper and Maggie Jackson, and Ian Wilbanks; two brothers, Richard Rossell of Tiftonia and Tony (Olga) Rossell of Naples, FL; three sisters, Jean Rossell of Alabama, Betty Sanders of Nashville, TN, and JoAnne Rossell of Nashville; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 30, at 1 p.m. at the Lakewood South Memory Gardens with Reverend Dennis Patrick officiating.

The family will receive friends Monday from 4-8 p.m. and Tuesday from 11a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, at the end of historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
