Thomas Franklin McElhaney, 80, of Fort Oglethorpe, died on Thursday, March 20, 2014.

He was a lifelong resident of the North Georgia area and was previously employed with CNC Oxygen. He was a Navy veteran having served during the Korean Conflict and enjoyed talking and spending time with family and friends. He loved going to Krystal and always enjoyed making others laugh.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Thomas "Chuck" McElhaney, Jr.

Survivors include his daughter, Delta Bentley of East Ridge; brother, Charles McElhaney and sister, Anna Louise Bell both of Chickamauga; two grandchildren, Kara Oxford and Elizabeth Keith; great-granddaughter, Bella Kate Oxford and numerous extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 22, in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel with Brother Dennis Chambers officiating. Burial will follow in the Chickamauga City Cemetery.

The family will begin receiving friends from 1-9 p.m. on Friday, March 21, and prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
