Christel Millard Mahan, 87, of Rossville, died on Saturday, April 19, 2014. 

She was a native of East Prussia Germany and had lived in the Chattanooga and Rossville area since 1948, becoming a citizen of the United States in January of 1949.  She had worked as a secretary at Bryan Hosiery Mills for five years and had worked as a line supervisor at Cutter Laboratories for 29 years.  Mrs. Mahan was currently working for Chattanooga Coin and Stamps for the past 30 years.  Her passions in life were her family and friends, her trips to the beach, her dogs Patrick and Alfie, her cats, crocheting, cooking, and enjoying life.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Archie Millard and Jim Mahan, sons-in law, Lee Lane and Carl D. Godfrey III, and parents, Anton and Erna Spill.

Survivors include her daughters, Nena Lane of Chattanooga and Carlene Godfrey of Athens, Ga.; brother, Peter Wolf Hart Spill of Germany; two grandsons, Tony (Karen) Godfrey and Derek (Lauren) Godfrey; and two great-grandchildren, Adrian Arana and Taylor Godfrey.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 26, at 1 p.m. in the South Crest Chapel with Reverend Roger Carnes officiating. Interment will follow in the Lakewood South Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, at the end of Historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
