A woman and her young son were woken up in the middle of the night by her boyfriend pointing a gun at them, screaming at them to get out of the house.

The woman told deputies that her boyfriend, Paul Lebron Cantrell, 44, also fired several shots in the room.

She told deputies he yelled, "You better get out of here or this is your last chance before I put another bullet in here."

When deputies spoke with Cantrell on the phone, he told them he provides for his girlfriend but she "goes out and stays gone." He said he was tired of it.

When deputies came by the house to talk to him, they said he refused to leave the residence. They said when he opened the door the third time, Cantrell dropped a small handgun and reached to pick it up.

Deputies attempted to use a taser when he stepped onto the porch, but he ran back into the residence before he could be reached.

Finally, a friend on the scene was able to convince him to come out. Cantrell was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and reckless endangerment.
