2 Killed In Accident On I-24 Friday Morning; 2 Others Injured

Two people were killed in an accident near Wildwood on Interstate 24 on Friday morning. Two others were transported to area hospitals.

The Georgia State Patrol said a westbound car from Wisconsin crossed the median and hit a Chevrolet Trailblazer traveling eastbound.The Mustang also struck a Nissan Altima and then the back of a Jeep Patriot, causing it to overturn.

The driver of the Nissan, a 43-year-old woman from Scottsboro, Ala.,  was killed along with the Mustang driver.

Two people had to be extricated from their vehicles.

Several people stopped to try to render aid before emergency workers arrived.

The interstate was shut down for several hours.

The Patrol said the 52-year-old woman who caused the wreck had a cell phone in her hand when her body was removed.
