Don Atkins, 77, of Rossville, died on Saturday, July 12, 2014.

He had lived in the North Georgia area for most of his life and was of the Christian faith. He was a Navy veteran having served during the Korean Conflict and was previously employed with Borg Textiles for more than 25 years as a mechanic. He was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan and loved playing golf. He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Eulala Atkins and brother, Jimmy Atkins.

Survivors include his children and spouses, Jeanice and (John) Schneider of Chattanooga, Kim and (Daniel) Davis and David and (Kay) Atkins, all of Rossville; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and (Marilyn) Atkins of Rossville, GA; four grandchildren, Joshua Davis, Bryan Davis, Meghan Hernandez and Kellie Pierce; seven great-grandchildren; special cousin, Robert Hamby and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 15, in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel with Brother Tommy Messer officiating. Burial will follow in the Lakewood South Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 1-9 p.m. on Monday, July 14, and prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
