Highway 153 Wreck Leaves 1 Dead, 1 Critical, Others Injured

A two-vehicle collision on Highway 153 on Tuesday morning has left one person dead, another in critical condition and others injured.

One of the passengers of the Caravan, 69-year-old Mary Hickman, was in critical condition and later passed away at the hospital from injuries sustained during the crash. 

There were five occupants in the Caravan, all were transported to a local hospital for injuries ranging from critical to minor.  The driver of the Fusion was also transported to a local hospital and is in critical condition.

At approximately 7:30 a.m., Chattanooga Police responded to 5700 Highway 153 and Grubb Road for a traffic crash involving a Dodge Caravan and a Ford Fusion.  Investigators believe the Caravan was traveling south on Highway 153 and the Fusion was attempting to cross Highway 153 from Grubb Road. 

At this time, Investigators have no witness information that would assist them in determining which vehicle had the right of way and ask anyone that witnessed this crash to please call 423-698-2525
