A Chattanooga man was arrested Thursday after police said he assaulted and raped his ex-girlfriend in her home, telling the woman he was going to be her "worst nightmare."

The woman, who said she was in fear for her own life and the life of her two-year-old daughter, waited two days to report the attack to the police. She also said she already had a restraining order against the man, Jeffrey Farrell Wooten.

She told police Wooten, 42, came into her home last Wednesday and dragged her by the ankles.

She also said he blocked her from leaving.

Wooten denied having been at her residence. However, police discovered a voicemail left at the time of the alleged incident by Wooten, using the victim's phone. In the recording, the voices of the victim and her daughter can be heard.

The woman showed police a bottle of tobacco spit she said Wooten left. She also showed police black grease stains on her bedsheets, which she said were left by Wooten, an automotive mechanic.

She said this was not the first time she had been physically or sexually assaulted by Wooten. She told police he said he would kill her the next time.

Wooten was charged with aggravated rape, false imprisonment, and violation of an order of protection.
