Vehicle Testing To Resume September 2 Following Labor Day Holiday Weekend

  • Monday, August 18, 2014

All vehicle emissions testing centers in Hamilton County will close on Saturday, Aug. 30 and Monday, Sept. 1 in observance of Labor Day. All stations will resume testing on Tuesday, Sept. 2 at their regular scheduled hours.

“Vehicle emissions testing has proven effective in helping Tennessee improve its air quality,” said Prentiss Taylor, program manager for the Tennessee Vehicle Inspection program administrated by Envirotest Systems. “Sharing with the community the importance of this program, as well its availability, remains a priority for us.”

Mr.

Taylor says that planning ahead helps keeps waiting to a minimum, and he recommends visiting the testing facilities on Wednesdays and Thursdays, when testing volume is usually lighter, and to avoid testing in the final days of the month.

Envirotest has a contract with the State of Tennessee to test vehicles for the improvement of air quality in Hamilton County, in addition to four Middle Tennessee counties, as required by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to meet the Clean Air Act.

Normal hours of operation and testing center locations for Hamilton County are:

·         5206 Austin Road in Hixson, and 720 Eastgate Loop in Chattanooga are open Tuesday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., and for both locations, Saturday 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. They are closed Sunday and Monday.

·         1620 Riverfront Pkwy. and 7460 Bonnyshire Dr. in Chattanooga  are open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. They are closed Saturday and Sunday.
