Alfred Wilson, 83, died on Saturday, September 20, 2014 surrounded by his family. 

He was born on Feb. 2, 1931.

After receiving a higher education, Alfred enlisted in the United States of America military service on Nov. 14, 1951. He received an honorable discharge from active duty serving as a specialist third class in U.S. Army. He was employed by Ross-Meehan Foundry.

He was preceded in death by his parents, the late Mr. Lawrence Strickland and Ms. Jennie Brown Wilson; loving wife, Annie P. Wilson; daughters, Patricia Ann Wilson and Roxanne Smith; one son, Richard Wilson; brother, Edward Wilson.

He is survived by two loving daughters, Dorothy Wigfall and Deborah (Oscar) Madden of Chattanooga; one son, Larry Smith of Dallas; 24 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Beatice Chandler of Chattanooga, Tn.; one brother-in-law, J. W. Dixson; one sister-in-law, Ruth Todd; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 29, in the chapel with Pastor Terrence Hannah officiating. Interment will be in National Cemetery.

The body will lie in state after noon on Sunday, Sept. 28, and the family will receive friends from 7–8 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
