William Jones
William Paul “Bill” Jones, 84, of Sale Creek, died on Saturday, September 27, 2014.
Bill served his country in the U.S. Navy where he was in the Seabees and a veteran of the Korean War. He was a charter and lifelong member of the Chattanooga Millwright Union Local #654. Bill enjoyed making jewelry and was an avid rock hound. He loved his Tennessee Vols.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Lola Jones; brother, Tom Jones; adoptive son, Tom Millsaps and brothers-in-law, Dock Major “Doddle Bug” Swaney, III and Raymond Albert “Duck” Swaney.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Carolyn Swaney “Tex” Jones; brother-in-law, Orbis Earl “Peewee” Swaney; sisters-in-law, Jewell Jones, Janice Lambert, Louanne Crocker, Welene Allen and Nadine Drake; nephews, Steve Jones (Darlene), Allan Jones and Greg Jones (Linda); nieces, Jennie Fountain, Sara Henderson, Lindsey Fountain, Karen Roddy (Curtis), Julia Doss (Tommy), Kellie Aslinger (Richard) and Sonja Everett (Odie); great nephews, Ben Jones (Stacie), Jamie Jones (Ashley), Trever Jones and Vince Roddy; great niece, Alivia Doss; great great nephew, Thomas Ridge Doss and special cousins, John and Diane Maready and Billie and Kristi Heath.
Services will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 30, at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Jimmy Talley officiating. Burial will follow at Welsh-Rogers Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday, Sept. 29, from 4-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
