Herbert H. Slatery III Investiture As Attorney General And Reporter Set For Wednesday

Herbert H. Slatery III will be sworn in as Tennessee’s 27th Attorney General at 11:45 a.m., Wednesday in the Old Supreme Court Chambers at the Tennessee State Capitol.  Governor Bill Haslam and Tennessee Supreme Court Chief Justice Sharon Lee will administer the oath of office.  

Mr. Slatery has served as Legal Counsel to Governor Bill Haslam since 2011.  Prior to serving in the Governor’s office, he was in private practice in Knoxville with Egerton, McAfee, Armistead & Davis, P.C.
for 30 years, serving as president from 1998 -2007, and chairman from 2008 through January, 2011.

A Knoxville native, Mr. Slatery is a graduate of the University of Virginia and the University of Tennessee College of Law.  He is a member of the Tennessee and Knoxville Bar Associations, the Knoxville Bar Foundation, and the Harry Phillips American Inn of Court.  Mr. Slatery and his wife, Cary, have two children, Frances and Harrison, who both live in Knoxville.
