Dalton State basketball Now Leads SSAC

After a surprising week, Dalton State (16-2 overall, 7-1 SSAC) now leads the Southern States Athletic Conference with a seven win and one loss conference record.

The No. 5 Martin Methodist Redhawks (17-3, 8-2 SSAC) went into Thursday night's game with No. 13 Dalton State in Pulaski, TN with only one loss on the season and with an 8-0 conference record.

The Roadrunners edged the Redhawks that night, 68-67.

Bethel, a team that received votes in the most recent NAIA Coaches Top-25, came back from a double digit deficit to knock-off Martin Methodist Saturday afternoon, also on the Redhawk's home court in Pulaski, 74-71.

The next NAIA Coaches Top 25 Poll is scheduled to be released Tuesday afternoon.

Dalton State hosts their next two games at Mashburn Arena. The Roadrunners play Blue Mountain - MS Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. Blue Mountain fell to 9-10 overall and 4-6 SSACSaturday night by losing to No. 18 William Cary 74-69. Dalton State will then entertain a red hot Bethel squad for homecoming Saturday at 5:00 p.m.
