Public Meeting On Proposed Zoning Change In Middle Valley Is Feb. 6

  • Monday, January 26, 2015

District 3 County Commissioner Marty Haynes announced Monday that he will host a public meeting to obtain further input and public feedback on the proposed zoning change for a commercial development near the intersection of Thrasher Pike and Middle Valley Road in Hixson. The public meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 6, at Middle Valley Church of God, which is at 1703 Thrasher Pike.

"I have received many thoughtful, reasoned comments on the developer’s proposal," said Commissioner Haynes.  "I have also heard from residents who either did not know or were unable to attend the previous public meeting.  This meeting is intended to provide the community with another opportunity to learn more about this development and share their opinions about the proposed zoning change.

“As part of this public meeting, there will also be an update on the new Ganns-Middle Valley Elementary, which is scheduled to open in August 2016.”

Once the public meeting has started, the project developer will make a brief presentation about the proposed commercial development and the different conditions that have been placed on his application to rezone the properties located at 1704 and 1714 Thrasher Pike and 1636 and 7650 Middle Valley Road.  Afterwards, the public meeting will have a moderated forum where residents can ask questions about the development and share their views and opinions about the application.
