A trio of Lee University cross country runners received weekly honors from the Gulf South Conference (GSC) as a result of their performances at the Greater Louisville Classic on Saturday.
Harold Smith earned his second mention as GSC Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week thanks to a school-record effort. The Cleveland, Tenn., native finished second among non-Division I runners, spanning the 8K course in 24:57.47. The performance marked Smith’s second sub-25 minute time of the season.
Audrey Smith earned Lee’s first-ever female Runner of the Week award.
Smith ran for a new personal best, pacing the Lady Flames with a 5K time of 18:33.80. The Kennesaw, Ga., native finished second among non-Division I participants and 29th overall.
Amy Carpenter gave the Lady Flames a sweep of the weekly honors after being named the GSC Freshman Runner of the Week. The Indianapolis, Ind., native ran for a new personal best with a 5K time of 19:14.39, which was third-best on the Lady Flames squad and 87th overall.
