Smith, Richard Franklin Jr. (Dalton)

Richard Franklin Smith, Jr., 54, of Dalton, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at Hamilton Medical Center.

He was a 1979 graduate of Dalton High School where he was voted Mr. DHS his senior year. Richard attended Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, TN and was a member of Dalton First United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Frank Smith, Sr.; and grandparents, Emory and Myrtle Smith and Earl Sharpe and Jennie Westmoreland Sharpe.

Richard is survived by his children, Jacob Franklin Smith and Sydni Lauren Smith both of Dalton; mother, Doris Sharpe Smith of Dalton; brother and sister-in-law, Eric and Mayra Smith of Chatsworth; nephews, Adam and Benjamin Smith of Chatsworth; aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10 in the Chapel of Love Funeral Home with Rev. Chuck Harris and Rev. Dr. Robin Lindsey officiating. Burial will be in Whitfield Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends prior to the service on Saturday, Oct. 10 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
