Martha Parker Peden, 72, of South Pittsburg, Tennessee, died on Monday, November 30, 2015 at her home.
The daughter of the late Ben Beene Parker and Mary Lou West Parker, she was of the Baptist faith. She was a 1961 graduate of Marion County High School, where she was a cheerleader, basketball player and was inducted into the school’s Hall of Fame in 2000.
Martha was also preceded in death by two sons, Tony Allen and Scott Allen; sisters, Joyce Parker, Lillie Condra; and brothers, John Parker and Waymon Parker.
She is survived by her son, Michael Peden of South Pittsburg; grandson, Peyton Peden of South Pittsburg; step-daughters, Debbie Wicks of Lookout Valley, TN, and Susan Roberson of Jasper, TN; brothers, Ronnie (Becky) Parker of Jasper, TN and Bill (Brenda) Parker of Whitwell, TN; sisters, Christine Samples of Rising Fawn, GA, Tootie Sutherland of Dunlap, TN, Cathy Parker of Rising Fawn, GA, Rita (Larry) Peacock of Sequatchie, TN and Sandy Condra of South Pittsburg, TN; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at the South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home on Wednesday, Dec. 2, at 2 p.m. Central Time with Reverend R. Wayne Bowman officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Jasper, TN.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday, Dec. 1, from 5-9 p.m. Central Time at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital or a favorite charity.
