Maudie Short Wingo Bronson, 83, of Signal Mountain, Tennessee, and formerly of Roanoke and Cedar Bluff, Virginia, died on Friday, February 6, 2015, in a long-term care facility.
She was a daughter of Thomas and Bertha Palmer Short of Short's Gap, Buchanan Co., VA, and was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Bronson, and siblings, Ballard and Ramey Short and Ethel S. White.
Maudie was retired from General Electric Corporation and had operated Safety Mufflers of Roanoke with her husband, John, for many years. She was a Christian and attended Soul's Harbor Church while she resided in Cedar Bluff.
Surviving to mourn her passing but to celebrate her life and going home are her son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth W. and Brenda Wingo of Signal Mountain, grandson, Jonathan K. Wingo, also of Signal Mountain, step-granddaughters, Tria Montgomery (Jeremy) of Cleveland, TN, and Nisa Hooper (Dr. Charles III) of Chattanooga. Also surviving are siblings, Walter M. Short (Jeanette), Harold Short (Charlene), Otis Short, Tommy Short, Jason Short (Joyce), and Effie Short, all of Tazewell County, VA, Dorothy Keene (Jack) of Lebanon, VA, and sister-in-law, Earlean Short of Roanoke. She leaves many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A short crypt side interment service will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, VA.
