A woman told police that Tyler Allen Ward beat her in the head with his fists and a handgun, and fired three shots inside her residence.

Ward, 21, of Hood Circle in Soddy Daisy, was charged with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and gun counts.

In the incident on Saturday, Kayla Phelps said Ward arrived at her residence on Coffelt Road intoxicated and armed with a gun. She said he accused her of being with another man.

She said Ward, in addition to beating her in the head with his fists, he kicked her in the head. Then he fired the shots and afterward hit her with the gun.

Police found her covered in blood. A bullet hole was found in the living room wall, and three spent shell casings were located.

Police said Ward's mother picked him up and was taking him to Soddy Daisy Police. When police stopped the vehicle, Ward tried to run away.

Police said he cursed at them all the way to the jail. They said he was extremely intoxicated.
