Nickels For Nepal, a 501c3 non-profit organization working in partnership with the Gamma Chapter of Kappa Kappa Iota, a professional organization of educators, achieved the goal to raise $3,000 for the school children in the remote Mijar Village of Nepal. The funds will be used to provide sanitation and water for the remote village school in the Mijar Village. The remote village school currently has no electricity, running water, or sanitation.
Nickels For Nepal local contact Nawaraj Baskota, Principal of Kavya School in New Baneshwor, Kathmandu, Nepal stated that he and his staff are excited to have a dream come true for the children in the remote Mijar Village.
Mr. Nawaraj reported that the local engineer who will design the layout for the sanitation project will not charge his fee to make this project a possibility for the children. The local villagers will provide the labor to build the structure to provide three toilets and running water for the school.
Chris Hockert, Chairman of the Board of Nickels for Nepal, is making plans to visit the remote Mijar village school and other remote schools in Nepal at her own expense in September. She indicated that there is a secondary school located nearby and hopes to be able to raise funds to provide school supplies, resources, scholarships, and uniforms as well as sanitation and water for this school as well to keep the children in the Mijar village in school.
