Harbeson, Wendell Gaynell Hood

Wendell Gaynell Hood Harbeson, 94, of Chattanooga, and formerly of Columbus, Georgia and Seale, Alabama, died on Friday, February 27, 2015. 

She was born and raised in Columbus and retired from the Columbus County School District. Wendell was a longtime member of Seale Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Dana L. Hood and Carl Franklin Harbeson; son, Robert “Nick” Dalton Hood, and her parents, Mary Elizabeth and Robert A. Harris, Sr.

Wendell is survived by her son, Michael and wife, Lynda Hood, Chattanooga; grandchildren, Maribeth Hood, Columbus, Lindsay Hood, Tarzania, CA, and Lauren Hood, Chattanooga, Jeff and wife, Britt Nassau, Jenn and husband, Shane Wallace and Kristen and husband Michael Franklin, both of Atlanta; six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

There will be no visitation, at the request of Wendell.

A private burial will be held later in Columbus.

The family has asked that memorial contributions be made in Wendell’s name to the American Cancer Society, at www.cancer.org.

Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
