Hobbs, William "Bill" Joseph

William “Bill” Joseph Hobbs, 81, of Chattanooga, died at a local health care facility on Monday March 2, 2015. 

He was born in Lynchburg, Va., and was a graduate of Tennessee Tech with a degree in engineering.  Bill was retired from Tennessee American Water Company with several years of service. He was a member of First Christian Church where he sang in the choir for many years.

Bill was a member of the Dalewood/Lakesite Lions Club and a volunteer with Contact of Chattanooga.  Bill served in the U.S. Army from 1956-1958 having obtained the rank of first lieutenant. 

He was preceded in death by his parents Guy E. and Margaret Swadley Hobbs and his wife of 51 years, Carol Eldridge Hobbs.

Bill is survived by his daughter, Tami H. (Robert) Hill; son, William C. “Chris” Hobbs, brother Guy (Nina) Hobbs, Jr. and six grandchildren.                              .

Graveside services will be held 3 p.m. on Friday, March 6, at the Chattanooga National Cemetery with Reverend Phil Summerlin officiating.

The family will receive friends on Friday, March 6, from noon until 2:30 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, 7454 E. Brainerd Road.
