Lightening Strike Causes Townhouse Fire On Arbell Lane

  • Thursday, April 16, 2015

The Chattanooga Fire Department responded to a townhouse fire at 2363 Arbell Lane at 11:15 a.m. on Thursday.  Chattanooga firefighters saw smoke showing from one of the townhomes and started pulling a hose line and fought the fire while Tri-Community VFD responded.

Once Tri-Community VFD arrived, it requested aid from Bradley County Fire Rescue and the East Ridge Fire Department for additional manpower and engines to cover other emergency calls in its district.

Firefighters entered the house to find heavy smoke and fire in the attic area and extinguished the fire within minutes.

Tri-Community VFD Fire Marshall Amory Planchard reported the house was struck by lightning during the heavy thunderstorm that occurred Thursday morning.

Damage to the townhouse is undetermined at this time.  The homeowner was insured and will be staying with family.

No injuries were reported but Hamilton County EMS was on the scene for any potential injuries to firefighters.
