Charles Edward Shelton, 73, of Rocky Face, Georgia, passed away Saturday, May 23, 2015 at his residence.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Shelton and Callie Shelton Slaughter; sisters, Betty Rittenhouse and Catherine Sanders;and brother, Harlan Shelton.
He was of the Baptist Faith.
Mr. Shelton is survived by his wife, Edna Earline Shelton of the residence; daughters and son-in-laws, Juanita and Steve Sansom and Christina and Don Tate all of Rocky Face; sisters and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Marion Smith of Villanow, Mary and Homer Watson of Chatsworth and Betsy Shelton of Dalton; brothers and sister-in-law, Larry Shelton, Kenneth and Faye Shelton all of Dalton; grandson Adam Sansom; six step-grandchildren, Carlton, Jeffery, Alaina, Carson, Lily Tate and Rose Davis; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday May 27, at 2 p.m. at the Westside Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Homes with Rev. Robert Beavers and Rev. Ronald Guffey officiating. Burial will be in the West Hill Cemetery. A White Dove ceremony will conclude the service. Serving as pallbearers will be Phillip Bailer, Matt Bailer, Jason McCall, Thomas Ledford, David E. Scoggins, David B. Scoggins and Joe Coil. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the employees of Tufting Parts Unlimited.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, may 26 from 5-9 p.m.
