Arthur E. Massey, 89, of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Massey was born in Dorothy, WV on April 25, 1926 to the late Myrtle Pettry Massey and Isaac C. Massey; and was also preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Wanda Stover Massey; his daughter, Bonnie Sullivan; his son-in-law, Bob Beach; his brothers, Bud, James, Henry, Callous and William; and his sisters, Martha and Alberta.

Mr. Massey served his country in the U. S. Army during W. W. II, worked in the coal mines of West Virginia and retired after 30 years of service from CVC Products in Rochester, NY as a welder. He loved spending time with his family and friends, hunting, fishing and lending a hand to anyone who needed his help. Mr. Massey was a Christian!

Survivors include his son, Arthur E. “Gene” Massey Jr. of Kendall, NY; his daughters, Aileen Beach of Cleveland, Barbara Fleming and her husband Phil also of Cleveland and Connie Braun and her husband Bob of Calhoun, TN; his son-in-law, Kyle Sullivan of Webster, NY; his grandchildren, Tracie Brockman, Laura Burkis, Barbara Sprinkle, Dean DeLeon, Raymond Massey, Aaron Massey, Amy Sullivan and Barry Sullivan; and his great-grandchildren, Bryan, James, Briana, Michael, Alex, Colin, Trevor, Lilly, Hayden, Harper, Jayden and Phia. 

The Remembrance of Life Service will be conducted Tuesday, May 5, at 7 p.m. from the North Ocoee Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Homes with Dr. David Tullock officiating.

The family will receive friends before the service from 4-7 p.m. at the North Ocoee Chapel.

Additional services will be conducted Thursday, May 7, at 3 p.m. from the Armstrong Funeral Home in Whitesville, WV. Interment will follow in the family cemetery in Ameagle, WV and will be held privately for the family. Family and friends will serve as casket bearers.

The family will also receive friends before the service from 1-3 p.m. on Thursday, May 7 at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Whitesville, WV.

The family requests that that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the charity of your choice in his name.

The North Ocoee Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Homes has charge of the arrangements.
