A pair of No.2 seeds - Boyd-Buchanan girls and Collegedale boys - avenged regular season losses and clinched District 5 A-AA tennis titles Tuesday at the Collegedale courts.
For Boyd Buchanan (8-1), it was the same song, fifth verse as the Bucs posted a 4-1 win against Collegedale (8-1) to claim their fifth straight district championship.
The Collegedale boys (8-1) fared better with a 4-2 upset of No.1 seed Silverdale.
The winners advance to the Region 3 Finals as Boyd-Buchanan and Brainerd will play Thursday at the Brainerd courts, while Collegedale will host defending Region 3 champ Hixson Friday.
Collegedale 4 Silverdale 2 -" It was truly a team effort as two of our three freshman won in singles and our senior doubles team (Ivan Snyder-Brady Tull) clinched the win at No.1 doubles," said Collegedale coach Matt Nafie.
"Freshman Casey Tull's three-set win at No.5 was huge for us as he lost the first set, won the second and then won 11-9 in the third to give us a 3-1 lead in singles."

The Bucs (8-1) lost to Collegedale 5-4 in the regular season and have now won five straight district titles. BBS faces District 6 champ Brainerd (6-0) Thursday at the Brainerd Courts for the Region 3 title. The Bucs' top three players Katie Delay (8-0), Makenna Thomas (9-0) and Christina Amos (9-0) remain unbeaten on the season in singles.
