Flancher Eugene “Gene” Ricketts, 81, of Soddy Daisy, died on Friday, June 26, 2015.

He was a United States Army veteran serving during the Korean War. Gene was a member of the New Life Baptist Church; he loved mowing the grass there for the church. He retired from DuPont after more than 30 years of service and he also retired from The Backstage Dinner Theatre. 

His parents, Flancher and Inez Ricketts and a brother, Warner Ricketts preceded him in death. 

Gene is survived by his wife, Pat Ricketts; two sons, Steve Kilgore and Eugene Ricketts; a daughter, Anita Ricketts, a brother, Reggie Ricketts; two sisters, Bobbie Rucks and Ray Mincey; fourteen grandchildren, Samantha Chambliss, Alec Ricketts, Celeste Ricketts, Patrick Ricketts, Steven Kilgore, Jr., Kevin Kilgore, Justin Kilgore, Stephanie Kilgore, Patricia Kilgore, Katie Marlow, Nikki Taylor, Aaron Kilgore, Johnathon Smith and Thomas Millican also several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. 

Services will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 30, at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Cox officiating. Burial will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens with Military Honors.

Visitation is from 4-9 p.m. on Monday, June 29, at the funeral home.
