On a warm and sunny Friday afternoon, the Lee University Lady Flames Lacrosse Team lost to the conference regular season champion Flagler University Saint 20-10 in the Gulf South Conference Championship semifinals.
The Saints got off to a quick start offensively scoring the first four goals ofthe game all by different players (Ella Pinder, Tristan Usher, Sydney Onega, and Carley Tepel). Senior Maggie Luzier for Lee also took care of business scoring two goals in the first quarter.
Going into the second quarter, the Saints continued playing well offensively with Carly Laferriere scoring within the first minute of the quarter.
The Lady Flames started picking up their game and kept some pace with back and forth scoring with the Saints in the middle of the quarter.
The third quarter belonged to the high-powered offense for Flagler. The
Saints scored six goals in a row with four being unassisted. To close out the quarter, Luzier scored her third goal of the game.
The Saints continued the trend of spreading the ball around in the fourth quarter by having four different players score a goal. Lady Flames’ midfielder Luzier continued her strong performance with her fourth goal of the game making that her 49th goal on the year.
Flagler outshot the Lady Flames 37-24 in the contest. They also had the advantage on the draw controls with 18 to 14 for Lee. The Lady Flames were 5-for-5 on free position shots. Kamille Kremkau, Brittney White, Makenna Luzier, and Hannah Vecsey all scored for the Lady Flames.
The Lady Flames finished 9-9 on the season with interim head coach Megan Smith.
