  • Tuesday, July 28, 2015
Rep. Tom Graves looks forward at benefits to come after Gov. Nathan Deal announced that a Memorandum of Agreement was signed Tuesday to establish the Appalachian Regional Port in Chatsworth:

“The Appalachian Regional Port will create good-paying jobs and spur economic development right here in Northwest Georgia. It will also better connect our local economies with the entire Southeast region. I applaud Gov. Deal, the Georgia Ports Authority, Murray County and CSX Transportation for making this inland terminal a reality.”

The Appalachian Regional Port is scheduled to open by 2018 and will have an annual capacity of 50,000 containers.
Subsequently, a 10-year development plan will increase its capacity to 100,000 containers.
