Local Businesswoman Selected To Re-open The Chattanooga Market For Merle Norman

  • Wednesday, August 5, 2015

Merle Norman is returning to the Chattanooga market with a studio scheduled to open on Aug. 21. Merle Norman operated at least one studio in Chattanooga for more than 30 years until the retirement of the last studio owners in 2008 and 2009.

The new studio will be located in Hixson at the Northtowne Shopping Center, which is anchored by several national retailers including Hobby Lobby. The studio, which is called the Boutique at Merle Norman, will carry other lines including Voluspa candles, Noelle apparel and handbags, Southern Darlin’ Tees, and Majestees jewelry and apparel.

The operator of the studio, Martha Young, was selected by Merle Norman based upon her experience with boutique retail stores. Prior to relocating to Tennessee in 2012 she owned a baby and children’s boutique in Asheville, N.C. Ms. Young has spent the last three years working with boutiques throughout Tennessee as a territory manager for multiple brands.

“Since the beginning, Merle Norman has empowered women to succeed in business and in life," said Ms. Young.  "I am excited to be part of this great family owned company that provides women with the tools to be beautiful, confident, and successful inside and out. Hixson is an exciting area for a studio with many loyal Merle Norman cosmetics users who have missed having a local studio. I look forward to meeting these amazing women.”

“The Chattanooga Market has been closed for too long and Merle Norman is very excited about having a great presence in the area," said Ken Anderson, franchise development manager for the Merle Norman Corporate Office.  "We believe that there are plenty of customers who feel the same way."
