The White House has announced that Cordell Carter, II, CEO of TechTown Foundation, will be recognized as a Champion of Change for Computer Science Education in a ceremony in Washington D.C. on Tuesday, Jan. 26. Mr. Carter is one of nine individuals selected by the White House for their leadership and innovation in expanding access to computer science education and for inspiring the next generation to use 21st century tools to better their communities.

“As with any leadership award, this represents a team effort by all of our TechTown staff, board and donors in Chattanooga and beyond,” said Carter.

“The community’s support allowed TechTown to extend the classroom and learning experiences of students throughout the region, introducing them to the mind-blowing opportunities computer science can bring to their lives.”

Mr. Carter and his fellow Champions of Change will be recognized on Tuesday. Carter will also share his experiences in STEAM education with officials from the U.S. Department of Education at a special roundtable focusing on Computer Science Beyond the K-12 Classroom.
