On Tuesday, Oct. 25 at 7:30 p.m., harpsichordist Christa Rakich performs J.S. Bach’s Goldberg Variations. Critically acclaimed for her live performances and recordings, Ms. Rakich’s concert career has taken her throughout North America and Europe. Her interpretations, particularly of music by J.S. Bach, have been praised for their “variety, ingenuity, elegance and scholarship, as well as a pristine technique.”  J.S. Bach’s monumental and iconic Goldberg Variations, is considered one of most masterful and ambitious works – a Mount Everest for keyboard soloists.  Christa Rakich notes, “This extraordinary work begins and ends with a songful Aria and in between are 30 dazzling variations – each one a precious gem ranging in emotion from lively to dreamy, joyous to tragic, dazzling to poetic. My hope is that this concert will be a beautiful adventure for both the performer and the audience.”

On Tuesday, Dec. 13 at 7:30 p.m., EYA: Ensemble for Medieval Music performs A Medieval Candlelight Christmas, a musical journey exploring the mystery, wonder and joy of the nativity.  An award-winning ensemble based in Washington, DC, Eya specializes in the interpretation of medieval music for women’s voices.  “Remarkable… gorgeous… with precise ensemble, a strong sense of presence, and ringing vowels that reverberated to the farthest reaches of the cathedral.” – The Washington Post.
