Lena Ilean Simmons Blansit, 78, of Rossville, Georgia, died on Tuesday, October 25,2016.

She was predeceased by her parents, John and Stella Simmons, brothers, Grady, Eueal, Raymond, Arlis and Leroy Simmons.

Ilean was raised in Chattanooga, and attended Central High School. She was retired from the state of Tennessee. In Ilean’s younger years she enjoyed participating in softball and basketball. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.

Ilean is survived by her sons Darrell Guffey, of Rossville, Tylan (Karen) Blansit, of Apison, and step-daughter, Kristy Blansit Johnson, of Rossville; grandchildren, Brittny and Chelsea Guffey, BJ and Brett Blansit, Drew Hall and Lyndsey Pritchett as well as a brother, Earl Simmons and sister, Hazel Simmons Guinn and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at First Baptist Church of Fort Oglethorpe on Saturday, Oct. 29, from 10 a.m.-11:30 a.m.

The Reverend Tylan Blansit will conduct the memorial service at the church at 11:30 a.m.
