Clerk Says Regular Customer At Shallowford Road Circle K Made Off With His Gun

  • Tuesday, November 1, 2016

A clerk at the Circle K on Shallowford Road said a regular customer at the convenience store made off with a handgun that he kept in a holster on him while on the job.

A charge of aggravated robbery was bound to the Grand Jury by General Sessions Court Judge Clarence Shattuck against Charles E. Appleberry Jr., 26, of 1717 Cambridge Dr.

The clerk said Appleberry came in the store with a passenger in his vehicle and bought a lottery ticket. He said they went back outside, with the passenger getting in the car and Appleberry stopping to talk about guns with an older man, who was also a regular at the store.

The clerk said he went outside and Appleberry got back in his car. He said Appleberry had a handgun in his lap.

The clerk said he showed Appleberry his gun, and he suddenly grabbed it. He said they struggled over it, but he pulled back when the passenger got the other gun and pointed it at him.

The clerk said he never did get his gun back.

He said he had never seen the passenger before.
