Sarah Jennings
WTVC morning anchor Sarah Jennings has announced her resignation effective Dec. 31.
“Leaving my wonderful co-workers at the end of the year to spend more time with my family is a bittersweet decision, but one which I'm so grateful God has given me,” Ms. Jennings said.
A native of Cleveland, Ms. Jennings began her TV career in 2003 as a traffic reporter for WTVC. She became morning anchor the following year.
“The Sarah you see on TV is the real Sarah, genuine and down-to-earth. Her greatest talent is the ability to speak with sincerity and humanity about important topics,” said WTVC news director Tom Henderson.
Beyond the anchor desk, Ms. Jennings helped launch a weekly series called “Pay it Forward,” which rewards special people in the NewsChannel 9 viewing area for their acts of kindness and community service. The series was an immediate hit with viewers and continues today with anchor-report Lauren St. Germain in the lead.
Ms. Jennings expressed her gratitude for the support of viewers, who have made Good Morning Chattanooga a favorite for years. “I consider each of you my family and thank you from the bottom of my heart for letting me share my own family with you - through laughter and tears, triumphs and failures, heartaches and happiness,” she said.
A search is underway to locate the next great anchor for Good Morning Chattanooga.
“Given the station’s top-rated position and Sinclair Broadcast’s reputation as a top-quality employer, we expect interest from candidates in Chattanooga and around the country,” Mr. Henderson said.
