Anti-Crime Legislation A Bit Myopic

Re: New Anti-Crime Legislation Laws Take Effect Jan. 1

It is a pity these wanna-do-good legislators could not include DUI in their harsher sentencing, mostly burglaries. DUI is one of the most prevalent, abused, mis-judicated, deadly dangerous offenses: death at the hands of a drunk.

How many times has the Chattanoogan.com reported a death at the hands of a drunk driver with multiple convictions of DUI. Who’s at fault? The judge? The DA? Possibly, but I think mandatory sentencing of habitual drunk drivers needs to be legislated and this can only be addressed by the Tennessee Legislature.

Once again, our fearsome leaders have demonstrated they can’t see the forest through the trees.
